It will be replaced by Password Protection, a new feature that automatically secures passwords saved in your customers’ browsers for extra protection and peace of mind. Supported browsers include Chrome and Firefox.

For Avast Business Antivirus Pro Plus users on Windows, it's easy to use Avast Passwords. All you have to do is set up a (free) Avast Account to get started, and import your existing browser passwords. Then you can get set up and even start syncing and accessing your passwords securely across devices.

But... what if you are using another password manager? Here's what to do.
*These settings assume that you are using Chrome Browser or Avast Secure Browser.*
8 Steps total
Step 1: Export your passwords from your existing password manager.
The first step depends on how you are currently managing your passwords. If you are managing your passwords in a browser, then you can skip directly to the last step of this How-To.
If you are using another password manager, then you will need to refer to that vendor's product manual or help to find out how to export your passwords as a CSV file.
*NOTE: Handle this export with extreme caution. You wouldn't want your unencrypted passwords out in the wild. So make sure it's properly protected—and if you save it somewhere, encrypted.*
Step 2: Open up Chrome or Avast Secure Browser
These instructions assume that you will be using Chrome, or our own Avast Secure Browser.
Step 3: Access the 'flags' area
To do this, type in 'chrome://flags' into your browser bar.
If using Avast Secure Browser, type in 'secure://flags' instead.
Step 4: Enable the 'Import Passwords' setting
Search this menu for 'Import Passwords,' and once you find the feature, enable it and restart the browser.

Step 5: Access Passwords advanced settings
Next, type in 'chrome://settings/passwords' in Chrome.
If using Avast Secure Browser, type in 'secure://settings/passwords'.
Step 6: Import your passwords into the browser
Using the CSV file, you can now import your passwords into the browser. If you are using Chrome, be mindful of whether you want these passwords to sync with your Google Account or not (check your sync settings)
The setting is hidden under the ellipses shown in the screenshot.
Step 7: Open the Avast Antivirus GUI
Now, open the Avast Antivirus interface. You can do this from the tray in Windows by right clicking the Avast icon.
Then, open up Avast Passwords from the Privacy menu. (If you don't see this, contact your IT admin to ensure you have the proper license and that Avast Passwords is enabled for you.)

Step 8: Import passwords into Avast Passwords
Now, you can import your passwords from the browser to Avast Passwords!
Afterwards, you may want to check to ensure that the passwords are no longer saved in the browser, and double check that you have handled your CSV export from your previous tool with the appropriate security (or safe deletion)
You're all set, and your passwords are now imported into Avast Passwords. For further functionality, you can install Avast Passwords on your mobile device and other devices and set up syncing—we have a separate tutorial on that below as well as in the Avast FAQ.
